I Got a Bomb in Me Pants

Sorry, we’re watching Wallace and Gromit . . . A Matter of Loaf and Death.  Gromit says that about the bomb in his pants bit.

Um, now that I over-explained that.

Summer is almost over!!  What happened?? I was driving the other day, cuz I do that once in awhile, and noticed some of the loverly green trees turning colors . . . colors such as blood red, gross orange and death yellow.  Ok, very pretty to look at but its also the official announcement of summer’s end . . . death to sun and only cool, rainy and more cold in the near future.

I just thought I’d share some of my summertime photos.  The boys and I had such a great summer!  We made new friends and spent tons of time out of doors . . . even got to visit the zoo and the coast.  But mostly just a lot of time, locally, at the parks playing in the water.

Samuel at the downtown, Waterfront Park, playing in the water.  One of  three water-feature parks that we frequented this summer. Kept the hot hot days from being too hot. :)

Minto-Brown is another favorite . . . no water features . . . but a huge dog park, walking trails galore, and the coveted black berry bushes.  The boys, dog and mom and dad, all get worn out with this outing. :)

Riverfront Park.  Tobias tumbling.  If you look close enough at the dude sitting on the ground beyond Sam, you’ll see the python (or Boa, whichever) hanging out on his neck.  Uh, ok.

Picnicking at Riverfront . . . same day, same snake guy sitting behind us.

Waiting for the movie in the park to begin; Samuel.

One of our squashes with the bloom still on.  The garden has been one of the highlights of this summer, for me!

Tobias starts preschool tomorrow and I’m a bit nervous about this new venture  . . . kind of another milestone and I feel like those milestones are whipping by at lightning speed.  Hey . . . at least I didn’t refer to the time flying bit.  Give me some credit. :)

Anyhoo . . . I’ll have new photos tomorrow evening of that event.

God bless your week!!

Sunshine and Walks

I am officially in love with summer. I used to love spring and fall the mostest. But no more.  I love the summer.

No excuses to sit around, couped up in the house.  Nope.  All outdoors now . . . or at least knowing its option to drop in at the playground anytime without the worry or threat of rain.  Yeah man!

Lately, as in the last month and a half, I’ve been loading the tots in the double jogger and heading out to a playground I stumbled onto.  Located behind an elementary school a mile and a half from my front door.  Perfect for the amount of walk/jogging and half way the kiddos (and Byron, Jack Russell Extraordinair) get to play and run in the adjoining fields. Its quiet and people are rarely there, especially during our morning romp, so Byron is off leash.

Byron is a Jack Russell . . . all 20 lbs of him.  He’s not a big dog, by any stretch of the imagination.  He is also the most goofy friendly dog I have ever met! Especially towards other dogs.  But apparently the gentleman that came out of nowhere this morning with his own, large sized, dog off leash thought Byron was a cannibal and out to get his dog.  I have never seen anyone react to Byron in a negative way but I’m pretty sure if I didn’t intervene the guy would’ve taken my dog out . . . as in kicked him or something.  He was mad and glaring at me and cussing at his own dog (and/or me) and hitting his own dog.  I was shocked! Byron kinda looked at him and trotted back to me.  I didn’t say a frickin’ word, I just hitched By back on the leash and scampered back to my kids . . . who, thankfully, stayed in the playground area some distance away.

I understand there is a leash law.  I do.  And if I thought my dog was going to even annoy someone else, he would stay on leash, fo’ shizzle.  But, Byron will probably be off leash again, at the same park, tomorrow.  One dude in nearly 2 months . . . I think the odds are good we’ll be ok.

So, weird experience for the day.  Hopefully the only one.

Oh, another thing.  If Samuel falls down one more time and hurts himself today . . . I might have to look for professional help . . . for him.  Poor kid.

He’s fierce . . . He’s crazy . . . He’ll lick ya to death . . . its Byron Jack Russell Extraordinair!

Killin’ Time

We, all of us, were busy with an appointment this morning and now I’m freshly showered, I’m killing time until the boys wake up . . . then we’re off to keep J company whilst he volunteers his time for Relay for Life . . . I use the word ‘volunteer’ very very loosely.  He doesn’t get paid but his whole shift is required to be there . . . :)

I joke about eating a lot of cookies . . . but I ain’t kiddin’ today.  Justin brought home huge quantities of Safeway’s fresh cookies . . . um, they’re good, real good . . . and I keep on eatin’em!

I dislike my hair right now . . . kinda frizzy and in need of a professional cut . . . I don’t think my self-cuts are cutting it.  Get it . . . cutting it! hee hee :) I crack myself up!

I should be doing the dishes and being productive in other ways right now . . . but I’m not and I probably won’t.  The kiddos will be up here, in the less than an hour and then we’re off and runnin’ again.

I was so excited about having a sunny day yesterday we ended up going on two walks . . . I found a playground, no more than, a mile from my house and so we made a morning of it . . . and then an afternoon of it.  The sun felt good . . . the heat felt good and we thrived in it yesterday!

I think we’re staying and having dinner with J’s shift as well . . . we’ll see how the boys hold up. :)

Well, God keeps on being faithful to us and we’re going to make our bills, yet again, this month.  On paper it doesn’t work . . . but its getting done anyway . . . so honor to God, as usual!!

I’m going for now . . . just wanted to pop in and say hello . . . and, of course, kill some time. :)

God Bless!!

clearing

Its clearing!! Oh, thank you Jesus!  I was dreading doing the workout videos today . . . they do get old, especially the same 8 or so that I use consistently.  The boys will enjoy the jaunt as well as I’m sure . . . the short bursts of time outside don’t seem to squelch their amazing energy levels. Now the sun is shining!! Yippeee for me!

Energy levels I wish they would share with me today since my coffee canister is empty as empty can be.  I didn’t realize J had to be at school right away this morning so I figured I could just go out pick some up before he left . . . . oh no! Nope, he had to be there, pretty much, right after he woke up.  He’s getting groceries tonight, which I appreciate, but I will have to wait until tomorrow for my loving and addictive cup of joe.  This has happened too many times in the last couple of months . . . one should not have to endure such hardships as this more than once every few years! Catastrophe, there’s a word for it . . .

Ah well . . . hey, my dad is doing really good.  They have a park about 15 minutes (walk) from their house and he’s been trekking that twice a day.  The doc said do if he can and he has. I’m so thankful to God for the surgery going good and a quick recovery! I won’t be going down until later in the summer. Finances are always playing a part, aren’t they?! Ugh!

Well, I’m getting off this thang . . . sure sucks the life-blood right out of you . . . kind of like watching tv.  :)

God Bless and have a great rest of the week!

Glimpses of Spring

Posted in Samuel, family, outdoors, spring, tobias, toddlers with tags , , , , , , , , , on February 12, 2008 by imaginecreation

I forget my camera anytime I leave my house. You shall note the majority of photos you see will be in my house or right outside my front door. So to no amazement, I forgot my camera on our giant outing to nowhere on Saturday and I forgot to take it out with me today on the longest walk we’ve been on all year. Gorgeous was the weather and happy were the children to be free from the bondage known as the indoors.

Well, I’m done writing for now. God Bless!spring is coming

Spring is on its way!! Yay, indeed!!

Longing

There is nothing better than waking up at 8am and finding the sun already shining bright and the world alight with its stunning rays.  As I pull the drapes the warmth is intensified by the glass window, slowly warming my living room; mimicking a greenhouse.  My mind kicks into gear thinking of the long walk I could complete, the playground I could lounge on the bench as the boys played; getting much needed fresh air and exercise. The plants I could plant for the outdoor containers and just about anything else that could take place out of doors, in the sun.  So I leash the dog while the boys are finishing their breakfast and as Justin enters the room I head for the door, dog in tow.

I open the door and watch the plans of living outdoors for the day come crashing in with the sudden frigid winter breeze that whipped by me into my house.   I shut the door, snuggled down in my fleece, my hands deep in the pockets and headed out to hurry the dog to potty and hurry back inside the warmth. The ground crunched, frozen; as it should be this time of year.  But I grimaced and thoughts of summer flooded my mind . . . sunshine, walks, ocean, swimming pools, tans and gardening . . .

I don’t hate much of anything . . . everything has it’s place and reason . . . but I hate the cold; sunshine or no, I hate the cold.

I did grin and bare it later that afternoon and took the boys out to play for half an hour or so, but that’s it.

Crazy Australian lady with the unimaginably good body and blond locks . . . here I come to kick box my fat butt into shape with you yet again; my walks will have to wait.

brrrr!!!!
